Prioritizing You and Your Baby

Every Baby Matters Home Visit Program

Serving nearly 400 families each year, our Every Baby Matters program helps bridge the gap between home and hospital.

Through this program, our registered nurses come to your home to provide important medical evaluations for both you and your baby. During these visits, they address any concerns or questions and offer valuable education.

This free service is designed specifically for high-risk patients, including teen mothers, pre-term babies, and those facing feeding or social challenges. Personalized support in a familiar environment empowers you and your little one to thrive during this important time.

Dedicated Mother-Baby Time

Mother-Baby Time provides a quieter period for rest, bonding, skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding support while you recover after delivery.

Keeping you and your baby together provides opportunities to recognize early feeding cues and respond when your baby is ready to breastfeed. Our nurses and lactation professionals are available to answer questions and provide individualized support.

Rather than following a single feeding schedule for every newborn, your care team will help you understand your baby's feeding cues and any specific feeding recommendations based on your baby's needs.

Level II NICU

Our birthing services in New Braunfels are equipped to support premature babies and those needing extra care in our Level II NICU. With on-call neonatologists, we ensure your little one receives specialized attention for a healthy start.

Our special care nursery is equipped to care for babies born at or after 32 weeks, or full-term infants needing extra care. Our dedicated team has the expertise to address moderate medical issues and promote healthy growth and development.

Your baby's well-being is our priority, and we're here to offer the comprehensive care they need.

International Board Certified Lactation Consultants

At CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels, our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, or IBCLCs, provide specialized breastfeeding and lactation support during your hospital stay and after you return home.

IBCLCs are health care professionals with specialized education and clinical experience in breastfeeding and lactation care. Requirements for certification include health sciences education, lactation-specific education, clinical experience and successful completion of a comprehensive certification examination.

To maintain the IBCLC credential, lactation consultants must meet ongoing recertification requirements that support continued professional development and evidence-based care.

Our IBCLCs can provide individualized support for:

  • Positioning and latch
  • Milk production and milk transfer
  • Pumping and expressing breast milk
  • Breastfeeding concerns or discomfort
  • More complex infant-feeding needs
  • Preparing to continue breastfeeding after you return home

If you have questions or experience challenges with breastfeeding, ask your nurse or care team to connect you with an IBCLC.
